  • All sheep will be weighed for class assignments.

  • Sale order is determined by class placing (highest to lowest).

  • All rams sell first, followed by all ewes. Selection of the Supreme Champion entries for the event are for promotion purposes for the Iowa State Fair. The champion ram leads off the ram sale and the champion ewe will lead off the ewe sale.

  • It is the consignor’s responsibility to paint brand their consignments with lot numbers. This needs to be completed prior to weigh-in. Lot numbers will be posted prior to weigh-in.

  • Before any consignor receives payment said consignor will “sign off” on the logistics of his/her consignment.

  • Buyers will receive “release(s)” from the clerking table. These release(s) are necessary to obtain subsequent releases from the Iowa State Fair Sheep Barn Office.

  • Livestock insurance will be available for purchase the evening of the sale.

  • The annual meeting of the ICLA will be held during the fair (as has been done in the past). This is your time to share your thoughts and new ideas for our association as well as letting your voice be heard from a breeders’ perspective.

  • As always, we continue to support the Iowa State Fair Sale of Champions if the entry is bred and sold by an ICLA member.
